Tongyeong Skyline Luge. Make sure you visit it and go for a spin, great fun. Pretty relaxed place, not as hectic as a lot of bigger places. Local buses get you everywhere, though since Tongyeong is relatively small they don’t come as often as bigger places.

Tongyeong is a charming little port city. One of my favorites. It's beautiful with lots of dining options and attractions. I love the area around the port. It's a bit touristy, but if you dig a little you can find true gems. There's a great little artist area and even better, you can take a ferry to several wonderful islands off the coast. It's totally worth the trip.

Check in and check out was easy, no fuss, no misunderstandings. Very kind staff and eager to accommodate us. Thank you! Our room had amazing views out to the islands and we were lucky with fabulous weather late in December which made it even better. Incredible location on the top of the hill overlooking the sea. The resort has lovely gardens, rooms are spacious and clean. We will be back!

We visited Tongyeong in Winter. If the weather is sunny, you can see beautiful things there! You can enjoy adventurous hiking on Bijindo island. The track is a little bit tough, but the view is adequately rewarding for the effort. The Bijindo island is accessible by a ferry trip. The sea wind is refreshing and calming after an exhausting hike. We stayed at the Hago Guesthouse (a very recommended stay place!) and we love the kindness of the owner. The next day, we visit the cable car and the luge. It is very cloudy that day but we like the experience and the scenery. :)

Its tourism potential is great. But, everything is built without any plan or coordination that too many sub-standard facilities crowds the central parts of the city. The cable car park and Hansan Island Shrine were great assets not to mention the crystal clear sea. As an ethnic Korean, I am very very sorry to see these natural treasure wasted like this.

8 Great for a jumping off point - the beaches in Tongyeong are hard to get to...
Great for a jumping off point - the beaches in Tongyeong are hard to get to without your own transport and not that impressive. The islands surrounding are amazing though and well worth the short and inexpensive ferry rides. The cable car in Tongyeong wasn’t that exciting and in general Tongyeong doesn’t have anything that different from other Korean cities.
